The conveying gas is moved through an enclosed pipework system, either by positive pressure or by vacuum (negative pressure) and the material is carried along with the gas and is moved between locations. Pneumatic conveying systems are used to transfer dry bulk materials, such as powders and granules, through an enclosed conveying line that can be either vertical or horizontal. The force generated for powering the pneumatic system is a combination of the flow of air or another gas, which is supplied by an air mover, such as a blower or fan, and the pressure differential. The pneumatic system conveys materials by controlling the pressure or vacuum and the airflow in the system.
